Monday Musings – April 29, 2013

Dear Friends,

If you put a buzzard in a small pen that is entirely open at the top, this bird will be a prisoner for life.  The reason is that the buzzard likes to fly with a running start on the ground.  Without room to run, it will not even attempt to fly.  In will be a prisoner in a cell with no top.

The bat is unable to fly if it is standing on a level place.  It will shuffle along helplessly until it is able to reach sufficient elevation from which it can throw itself into the air and begin to fly.

The bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler will stay there until it dies or is taken out.  It will not see the means of escape at the top, but will keep trying to find some other way out.   It will seek a way where none exists until it destroys itself.

People in many ways are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee.  We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up!  That’s always the answer when there seems to be no answer.  Just look up.

Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, but faith looks up.

In Christ,

John
