Monday Musings – October 21, 2013

Dear Friends,

I hope you are on our reservation list for Consecration Sunday and the meal to follow.  We’re making a special effort to contact those we haven’t heard from and to maximize our attendance on this special day.  Estimate of giving cards for 2014 will be distributed and turned in as part of our Consecration Sunday worship.  Those who are unable to attend will get a card in the mail.  Those who turn in cards will get a confirmation and a thank you in the mail.  Those who don’t turn in cards don’t have to worry about being hounded.  We know some give who do not fill out a card and we appreciate and celebrate your gifts to God through your church.  And we want everyone to enjoy the meal as we celebrate our church!  Remember, it all starts at 10:30 am this Sunday, October 27.

There, I tried to keep that as short as I could!  I mainly want to share with you this morning something one of you handed me Sunday.  You told me you have been struggling with insomnia and chronic pain.  In the middle of the night, you prayed.  You asked God for a song.  God answered that prayer and you shared with me the words.

I want to be walking with the Spirit, talking with the Spirit, living with the Spirit, the Spirit of God.

I need You to be beside me, I need You to love and guide me, living with the Spirit, the Spirit of God.

And when I wake up each day the first thing I do is pray.  Thank You God for giving me such a beautiful day!

I pray that in all I do You’ll know that I worship You, and I’m living in the Spirit and my spirit is saved.

I want to be walking in the Spirit, talking in the Spirit, living in the Spirit, the Spirit of God.

I need You to be beside me, I need You to love and guide me, as I’m living in the Spirit, the Spirit of God.

You told me God gave you the words, but not the tune.  Actually that’s not unusual in the history of Christian music.  Perhaps one of you reading this will be given the tune for these words and we’ll get to sing this together in worship.  Maybe even on Consecration Sunday!

I do hope to see you then!

In Christ,

John
